Visitors with developmental and learning disabilities

Notre-Dame de Paris provides a welcoming and reassuring environment for visitors with mental or cognitive disorders.

Access and Navigation in the Cathedral

  • Entrance: The main entrance through the central portal (Portal of the Last Judgment) is accessible for individuals with disabilities. A fast-track access is available to avoid waiting in line. No reservation is necessary.
  • Trained staff: Staff are sensitized to specific needs, offering patient and respectful assistance.
  • Clear signage: Simple pictograms and explicit directions make navigating the cathedral easier.

An accompanying person is allowed for the visit to the cathedral and the treasury.

Inclusive Mediation Tools

  • Easy-to-read booklet (FALC): Notre-Dame de Paris offers a booklet in easy-to-read French (FALC) that provides an inclusive visit experience. It explains the spiritual, historical, and architectural dimensions of the cathedral. It will be soon available in English on the website.
  • Mobile app: A free mobile app, compatible with Android and iPhone, provides guided tours in French, English, or Spanish.
  • Tactile booklets and 3D models: Tactile booklets illustrate the cathedral’s layout, façade, rose window, choir screen, and the reliquary of the Crown of Thorns. Additionally, three 3D models enhance the visit (the cathedral, the baptistery, and the statue of Our Lady of Paris). These resources are available upon request at the reception desk.

Visiting the Treasury

Interactive and digital features (3D models, archival films) offer a playful and calming way to explore the history of Notre-Dame as part of the treasury visit.

Quiet Spaces

Quiet areas, such as the chapels of devotion, provide a space for relaxation and reduced sensory stimuli. For any assistance, the reception team is always available to meet your needs.
